We found a pretty good way to combine a couple of things. Flew to San Diego, picked up Ruth (Naomi's sister) at a convention she was attending. The three of us drove to Riverside (about 2 hours) then spent several days there clearing out their Mom's house. End of the week, Naomi and I drove back to San Diego while Ruth returned to her place in LA.
There was a Marathon at Carlsbad, which gave us an excuse to stay across the street from Legoland (good stuff for grandchildren), enjoy the coastline, and do another Half Marathon. Nice course, almost entirely along the coast road with great views of surf and sand - not too cold (remember, I'd been doing winter training in DC, so it's all relative), course was a little hilly but not bad. All in all a pretty good way to spend a weekend. We did another hand-in-hand finish, this time at 3:17:47, which means there is still a lot of work to do on going faster.
