Marine Corps Marathon 10K

This may seem to some like being a glutton for punishment, but one week after the Nike Marathon in San Francisco, Naomi and I are back at another racewalking event. October 28th, "just" a 10K (6.2 mile) side event for the Marine Corps Marathon, starts next to the Pentagon, just a couple of miles from our home in Alexandria, and gives us an opportunity to be in the Finish area to welcome our Team in Training mates when they finish the Marathon. We even get a nice medal and a t-shirt, without having to travel more than a couple of Metro stops.

More about it later, suffice to say this was our second year of this, and it's fun. We even get our grandson David Matthew Morales out to walk the last mile with his Grandma, complete with a medal at the finish. Took me 85 minutes to walk the 10K, and it's a great recovery walk.

Next event is a "Turkey Trot" 5K, then we'll be off to Randleman, NC (High Point) for the December 2d Victory Junction Run being put on by John Bingham. Finish is at Kyle Petty's Victory Junction Camp.
