Very First Post

This is my first try at creating a blog, so be patient with me. Want to share my experiences in preparing for my third encounter with the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, CA on October 21,2007. Have successfully completed this event twice, am now trying to make it within 6:15 total time. Not fast for a runner, but for a 62 year old "racewalker" it's pretty quick. Requires averaging 14:18 per mile for 26 miles (about 4.2 mph). My best previous time is 6:34:40, so this is an ambitious goal, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'll be posting training times, miles and similar data, sort of as a personal journal and to give anyone so bored as to be reading this an idea of what is going on. We'll start with some historical data in a separate post titled "2005, It Begins". Come back to see this space from time to time, it may be interesting (or not) but hopefully not boring.
